Random Thoughts

As Mr Wright and I watched TV recently, I started to think...stop laughing.

The program had a character that was terminally ill and was on her death bed in a great deal of pain. She wished she could end her life to be free of the pain but she was Catholic and knew that doing so would send her straight to hell. She asked her friend to do it for her since he was not Catholic.

Here is where my thoughts lead:

If she believed that she would be damned for committing murder or in this case suicide, why was it okay for someone else (a friend) to commit the crime just because he didn't believe? Wouldn't everyone be punished the same way, despite their believes? Does this mean if you don't believe you will be free from consequences? Do other people really believe this?

I got the "it's only TV" look from Mr Wright - but someone wrote this, someone thought about this - right?

I agree with you and always will....us womenz have to stick together.:)
As for the characters backwards thinking, if it really worked that way then I think a lot more people would be asking each other to end their lives for them...just to be on the safe side. Seems to me like it could be an easier way out...make someone else do it so you don't have to.
Just because someone doesn't believe in Santa Claus or the tooth fairy does not mean that they don't exist (on some level). I could ask hundreds of kids and several adults and 9 times out of 10 if they want to believe in them, then they become a reality in one way or another. Faith can be a magical thing...faith in Santa or faith in God. Just because you can't see it does not mean it doesn't exist or isn't real. So by those standards if she believed in God and being punished for committing suicide then logically she would be punished for putting her friend in that position of taking her life, or for allowing it to happen. If she allows it to happen she is, in essence, doing it herself.

Guess it is a good thing I don't have any guns laying around or I would have had you stop by to put me out of my misery several months ago.

Your right, someone had to think of it in order for it to be a show! Crazy! I wonder a lot about some of the shows on t.v. someone has had to think of that stuff.
